Reentry Fair welcomes formerly incarcerated individuals to connect with resources, services, and opportunities, Oct. 10
SANTA FE, N.M., Sept. 15, 2026—The First Judicial District Court and Santa Fe County are hosting a Reentry Fair on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the courtyard at the First Judicial District Court at 225 Montezuma Avenue, in Santa Fe.
The Reentry Fair connects formerly incarcerated individuals and their families with community partners to support a successful fresh start. Dozens of health providers, employers, and social service providers will be onsite to meet with attendees.
KSWV Suave Classic Hits Radio will play music onsite, interview service providers, and speak with attendees. You can listen to the livestream of the event online or on the radio dial at 99.9 FM and 810 AM. Formerly incarcerated individuals, their families, and members of the community are encouraged to attend to meet with service providers and opportunities in person.
“Every day across New Mexico, individuals released from custody onto probation supervision are taken back into custody for noncompliance due to circumstances of poverty, homelessness, unemployment, mental health, and substance use. The Reentry Fair is an opportunity for individuals to connect with resources and services that will address those circumstances, reduce reincarceration, and improve the health and safety of our community,” said First Judicial District Court Judge Jason Lidyard.
Individuals returning to the community after incarceration encounter significant challenges with securing employment, housing, identification, behavioral health and substance-use services, education, transportation, family support, and navigating available government and community programs.
Rather than requiring individuals to independently locate and navigate many agencies and organizations, the Reentry Fair brings these resources together in one location where attendees can ask questions, learn about services, and make direct connections with providers in a supportive environment.
The Reentry Fair grew from a Criminal Justice Coordinating Council subcommittee with collaboration from the First Judicial District Court, the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility, the Santa Fe County Community Services Department, and community partners and service providers.
“In corrections, we see firsthand that release from custody is only the beginning. Successful reentry requires personal accountability, but it also requires access to employment, housing, treatment, identification, and other essential services. By bringing these resources together in one place, this fair gives people a real opportunity to rebuild their lives, strengthen their families, and successfully return to the community. That ultimately makes our entire community safer,” said Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility Warden Derek Williams.
The collaboration between Santa Fe County and the First Judicial District Court reflects a shared belief that successful reentry extends beyond the completion of a sentence. Helping people get jobs, housing, healthcare, and other support services makes life more stable, helps keep people out of detention, supports families, and enhances public safety.
The Reentry Fair demonstrates what can be accomplished when the courts, county government, corrections, community service providers, and local organizations work together toward a common goal.
